A big Inca site in the sacred valley very close to the train where the trains departing every hour to Machupicchu, Ollantaytambo has several temples the Main one is located in the religious area, on the top of this building there’s a spectacular observatory used by Inca people to know the change of the season.

Winter solstice was the most important day for the Incan people because that was considered New Year’s Day such was the reason for celebrations along the Incan civilization but the main celebration was at Cusco city.

In Front of the Temple, there are a lot of buildings which a watch tower, and storage houses as well as a profile of a personage who is considered a god by the locals called Tunupa or Wiracocha. We recommend visiting Ollantaytambo for 4 hours because the town itself is an attraction with beautiful streets and a local house to see how the Incans used to live.
