Chinchero is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

It was the palace of the Inca Túpac Yupanqui, one of the most important emperors. With the arrival of the Spanish, the palace was destroyed. In its place, a colonial church was built.

Known to the Incas as the birthplace of the rainbow, this typical Andean village combines Inca ruins with a colonial church, some wonderful mountain views, and a colorful Sunday market.

Nowadays visitors go to different communitues to see the textile center where locals weaving their textiles using ancient techniques.
